As pet owners, it is our duty to learn our animals personalities and routines. In general, what you should be on the lookout for is change in those routines. Whether they are eating more or less, sleeping longer or shorter, or making noises you haven’t heard before, these are all potential signs of sickness, or your cat trying to tell you something.
Change in Appetite
Eating too much or too little could be a sign of sickness.
An odor coming from your kitty’s mouth could mean gum disease or tooth decay.
Outside The Litter Box
Causes of this annoying habit can indicate a disease.
Could be an indication of thyroid disease or other sickness.
A classic sign of this could be hiding.
Dull or greasy coat, which could indicate a skin disease.
A sudden increase or decrease in activity could indicate an overactive thyroid or arthritis.
Sleep Pattern Change
If your cat is a heavy sleeper and is now up all night, or sleeps longer than normal.
A change in your cat’s routine such as a new pet, remodeling or loud noises.
Naturally quiet cats who start to be more vocal or chatty cats who become quiet.
If you notice any of these signs, or are suspicious in any way that your cat could be sick, take them to your veterinarian as soon as possible.
