10 Signs Your Cat Could Be Sick

As pet owners, it is our duty to learn our animals personalities and routines. In general, what you should be on the lookout for is change in those routines. Whether they are eating more or less, sleeping longer or shorter, or making noises you haven’t heard before, these are all potential signs of sickness, or your cat trying to tell you something.

Warning Signs:

Change in Appetite

Eating too much or too little could be a sign of sickness.

Stinky Breath

An odor coming from your kitty’s mouth could mean gum disease or tooth decay.

Outside The Litter Box

Causes of this annoying habit can indicate a disease.

Weight Change

Could be an indication of thyroid disease or other sickness.

Behavior Change

A classic sign of this could be hiding.

Grooming Change

Dull or greasy coat, which could indicate a skin disease.

Activity Change

A sudden increase or decrease in activity could indicate an overactive thyroid or arthritis.

Sleep Pattern Change

If your cat is a heavy sleeper and is now up all night, or sleeps longer than normal.

Stress-Induced Behavior

A change in your cat’s routine such as a new pet, remodeling or loud noises.

Naturally quiet cats who start to be more vocal or chatty cats who become quiet.
